Unit 24: Part II - Be able to manage own contracts

Here you will send a quote to a commissioner/ business owner through Design Crowd.

Instructions:
1. Log into own Design Crowd Account
2. Find a Brief that requires a Submit Quote Button, NOT Submit Design. This project must suit your skill set- so if your a great logo designer pick one like this, business cards etc.
3. Using the example provided here as a good way of setting out your quote, create your very own for the project Brief taking into account costs that you may have for it i.e internet (for emails, Google, etc), Electricity Bills (Rough Estimate), Phone Bills (costs per minute and how much you may require talking to the client)

Example is set into 3 screen shots. Look and use this information to create your very own quote.

How To Fill One In:

Top Section:

Add Links to Work that is relevant to the project. If its a poster, then link it to some flyers/ posters you have done before on Facebook or on your website.

Middle Section:

Paragraph One: Grab their attention.

Paragraph Two: Introduce yourself and tell them a little about who you are and what you do within our industry. Graphic Designer, Web Designer etc.

Paragraph Three: Describe your work, what are you like as a designer? Creative? Traditional? What are you like as a professional? Effective, Organised etc.

Paragraph Four: Describe the quote in a little more detail. Why will it cost that much? What does the client get for their money? Why will it be better than other quotes?

Bottom Section:
Break Down the Quote into stages - what's costing what? How long will things take? etc
Add extra contact details or conditions that you will work in, i.e cannot be contacted after 5pm etc.

Screen Shot 2:

Screen Shot 3:

You will notice that there are blue words in the example quotes. These are examples of Back Links. Back Links are links to other parts of the web to support your quote i.e to Flickr, old Design Crowd work, your own web site etc. This is done by clicking the link icon in the text editor tool bar - looks a bit like this:

BE WARNED:

make sure you think about this quote properly, as a good quote could result in some free-lance work that can range from $200-$2000. Real Work, Real Money
